Statistics released by the Election Commission of the Maldives (ECM) indicates that 160,158 individuals have cast votes in the ongoing parliamentary elections.
ECM disclosed that 56.26% of the eligible voters have voted by 1500hrs. This includes 82,931men and 77,227 women. Therefore, it can be inferred that a total of 124,505 individuals out of 284,663 individuals who are eligible to vote have yet to do so.
With the parliamentary election electing candidates competing for the representative position of 93 districts, voting hours will continue until 1730hrs.
ECM has urged individuals to cast votes promptly, as the time allocated for voting will not be extended regardless of the situation.
