Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure has disclosed that the renovation of Dharubaaruge convention centre has been completed.
During the renovation work, which was launched this month, the ministry replaced the damaged roof of the building and repaired the ceiling. The ministry also repaired the inner walls and outer walls of the building.
Furthermore, the ministry changed the damaged air-conditions installed in the building and serviced them all. The ministry also changed the tiles of the building as well as the carpets in the Hiriya Hall and the Rannabandeyri Hall.
Dharubaaruge was built in 1990 to host the SAARC Summit in the Maldives and has since been developed to be larger and more spacious than the original building. The building is used to hold major government ceremonies and meetings, as well as public ceremonies and parties. The National Emergency Operation Centre, the largest government operation in recent history, established following the COVID-19 outbreak, was operated at the Dharubaaruge. Additionally, the election office of the Election Commission of the Maldives (ECM) is also established at Dharubaaruge.
