Colombo Security Conclave signs Charter and MoU to establish secretariat

The Member States of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) has officially signed the Charter and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of the CSC Secretariat. The signing ceremony, hosted by the Government of Sri Lanka in Colombo, marked a pivotal moment in regional security cooperation.

The CSC, comprising Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, Maldives, and Mauritius, aims to enhance regional security by addressing transnational threats and challenges of shared concern. The documents were signed by prominent officials, including India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval K.C., Maldives’ Deputy Commissioner of Police (Retd.) Lieutenant Ibrahim Latheef, Mauritius’ High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Haymandoyal Dillum, and Sri Lanka’s National Security Adviser Sagala Ratnayake, representing their respective nations.

The CSC focuses on five key pillars of cooperation: Maritime Safety and Security, Countering Terrorism and Radicalisation, Combating Trafficking and Transnational Organised Crime, Cybersecurity and Protection of Critical Infrastructure and Technology, and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief.

This signing represents a significant milestone in the CSC’s efforts to advance regional security. The ceremony concluded with discussions on the next steps and future activities for the Conclave.
