Government is planning to reclaim land adjacent to the Sinamale’ Bridge Highway for the proposed racing track, which will be developed by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced.
Speaking during a press conference on Saturday, MACL has been awarded the contract to build a racing track in Male’ adding that the State-owned firm will invest in the construction of the track.
"The track is being built by reclaiming land from the area adjacent to the solar panels on the highway from the bridge to Hulhumale’,” he explained.
The President said the proposal was made because it was not considered the safest option to build a racing track in a residential area. A racing track will be built where the length required for the track is required, he said, adding that the outer area of the highway will be dredged and land will be available for the track.

President Dr Muizzu also reaffirmed his Administration’s commitment to sports and recreation to encourage and build a healthy and active society. So far, 192 sports projects have been signed and another 377 projects are planned to be implemented, he said, adding that 50 sports projects have been completed so far this year.
