Members of Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) on Tuesday met senior officials of Public Service Media (PSM) as part of its campaign to make the judiciary more media friendly.
DJA commenced the campaign with an “Open House Media Week” this Sunday. Senior Management, Department Heads of PSM and Senior Editors of the PSM News and Current Affairs Department attended the meeting held at DJA.
At the meeting, the two parties discussed on improving relationship between the judiciary and the media. PSM highlighted on the importance of building human resources and providing necessary training with the help of DJA to journalists and programme producers who cover court proceedings, while DJA assured that it was committed towards working with the media.
Under the “Open House Media Week”, DJA is holding different activities in collaboration with media outlets. As part of the campaign, DJA held information sessions for media personnel on court procedures and the functioning of the judicial system and allowed media outlets to record video footage of the courts.
According to DJA a special workshop for journalists and other media personnel will be held on Thursday (July 21).
