President Muizzu and Saudi Fund CEO Discuss Expanding Development Cooperation

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Murshid, the Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), have held discussions on future cooperation in key development sectors. The discussions took place at the President’s Office on Saturday, during a courtesy call by Al-Murshid on the President.

Al-Murishid is visiting the Maldives to attend the 60th Independence Day celebrations and the inauguration of the new terminal at Velana International Airport.

During the meeting, President Dr Muizzu warmly welcomed Al-Murshid and his delegation, expressing his gratitude for their visit to the Maldives to participate in the national celebrations. He thanked the Saudi Fund for Development for its valuable support, particularly in relation to the airport development project.

In response, the CEO of SFD conveyed his pleasure at joining the celebrations of the opening of the Velana International Airport terminal and expressed his deep honour at being invited to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Maldivian independence. He noted that the Saudi Royal Court had closely followed the project’s progress throughout.

The President and the CEO also discussed potential avenues for future cooperation, including in the housing, fisheries, and health sectors.
