The Maldives Media Institute (MMI) recently hosted a two-day workshop focused on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in professional environments. It was conducted as part of MMI’s ongoing efforts to enhance digital proficiency within public sector agencies.
The programme, held from 9 to 10 September and titled “AI in the Modern Workplace”, welcomed 88 participants, including staff from Public Service Media (PSM) and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts. Designed to address the evolving demands of the digital workplace, the sessions offered practical instruction on deploying AI tools to enhance efficiency and innovation.
Central to the workshop was the guidance provided by lecturer Hussain Jazlan, who spoke to PSM News about the training’s dual emphasis on strategic development and risk awareness. Participants were introduced to methods for applying AI in both personal and professional contexts, with Jazlan noting the importance of learning how to “upgrade and level up” skill sets in response to emerging technologies.
The initiative forms part of Mianz International (MI) College’s ‘Level Up’ corporate training brand, which prioritises responsible innovation and workforce readiness. Organised in collaboration with the Build, Educate, Advance, Motivate (BEAM) Training Initiative, the workshop reflects a broader commitment to capacity-building through cross-institutional partnerships. At the close of the programme, certificates were presented to all attendees by Abdulla Yameen, Deputy Managing Director of PSM.
MMI has indicated that similar training sessions will be conducted throughout the year, reinforcing its role in advancing professional development across sectors. The institute continues to offer a wide array of educational programmes, positioning itself as a key driver of national progress in media and technology.
