Fenaka handed over water and sewerage project for Kolhufushi housing units

The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has handed over the development of water and sewerage systems for 100 housing units in Kolhufushi, Meemu atoll to Fenaka Corporation Limited. The project is valued at USD 738,000 and is set to be completed within 5 months.

The 100 housing units present in Kolhufushi commenced development in 2019 and was completed in January 2025. The lack of utility facilities for these housing units have been a matter of concern for the residents of the island. The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has developed rowhouses on privately-owned land under the government’s social housing initiative. This is the first such initiative by the government implemented in the Maldives.

These 1200 sqft housing units comprised of 3 rooms, 3 bathrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a laundry room. The government spent a total of USD 7.83 million on this housing project.
