First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has inaugurated the volleyball court developed in Meedhoo, Dhaalu Atoll.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu, senior officials at the Ministry and the island’s institution including members of the Kudahuvadhoo Island Council and many island residents.
The development of the volleyball court was handed to Road Development Corporation (RDC). The project was completed within two months, and the practical work for it began in December last year.
As part of the inauguration ceremony, a friendly match was played at the volleyball court. The two teams that played in this match comprise of youths from the island.
The inauguration of this court forms part of a broader government effort nationwide to develop sports facilities across all inhabited island.
These infrastructure projects are implemented by government institutions with the aim of advancing public health.
