MTCC awarded contract to expand Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been awarded a contract to build an extension to upgrade Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital in Haa Dhaalu Atoll to a tertiary standard facility.

The agreement was signed during a special ceremony held at the Ministry of Health.

Health Minister Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim signed the contract on behalf of the ministry, while Deputy Managing Director Ahmed Shareef Abdul Rahman Yoosuf signed for MTCC.

According to the Ministry of Health, the project will be carried out in two phases.

During the first phase, the hospital’s operating theatre, Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) and several other services will be relocated to a temporary area within the hospital.

The second phase will involve the construction of the new extension building.

At the same ceremony, the ministry also awarded a separate contract to Lycan Private Limited to construct an extension building for the Bodufolhudhoo Health Center in Alif Alif Atoll.The agreement was signed by State Minister Ahmed Gasim on behalf of the ministry and Managing Director Ahmed Aiman on behalf of Lycan Private Limited.

The ministry said the new facility will include office space, a public health unit, laboratory, meeting hall, laundry, and storage areas for medical and general supplies.

Speaking about the projects, Health Minister Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim said the developments are part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the health sector across the country.

The Ministry of Health is continuing to implement projects aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services across the entire nation.
