Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua has said President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s 2024 visit to China laid a strong foundation for relations between the two countries.
China is marking its 77th National Day today. Ambassador Kong said the occasion brings added joy amid the close relations between the Maldives and China.
The ambassador said the high-level meetings between the leaders of China and the Maldives in 2024 laid a strong foundation for bilateral relations. He particularly highlighted that the meetings fostered a spirit of cooperation in key areas.
In 2024, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu made a state visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The Chinese ambassador said he values the close ties between the two countries and extended his congratulations to the people of both nations on the occasion.
China’s National Day commemorates the establishment of the People’s Republic of China. This year marks 54 years since the Maldives and China established diplomatic relations.
