Parliament endorses Mohamed Hussein Shareef

Parliament has endorsed President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's nomination for the Maldivian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mohamed Hussein Shareef.

The nomination of the new Sri Lankan Ambassador was endorsed unanimously with votes from all members present at the parliament sitting.

Mohamed Hussein Shareef held various posts in previous governments as well as the post of Minister at the President's office in the current administration. He is also the current Ambassador of Maldives to Japan.

The post of the Sri Lankan Ambassador is at present filled by Zahiya Zaheer, who has previously held the post of Minister of Education.
