A large amount of people gathered at Huravee Building to prosper from the programme initiated by the Ministry of Economic Development. The government initiated the programme to minimise youth violating transport regulations and to encourage youth to abide by the laws.
The programme is well received among everyone, particularly youth and added the programme will provide vehicle license in accordance with rules and regulations, Deputy Minister at Economic Ministry Abdulla Mohamed said upon commencement of the programme.
Meanwhile, license will not be issued to those who fail from necessary tests criticising rumours are spread saying license will be issued disregarding regulations, according to Deputy Director General of Transport Authority Mohamed Rafeeu. Highlighting the theory test and practical test are compulsory to attain the license, he said regulations will be followed and monitored by a special committee during the programme as well.
Wrapping up the first night of the programme, the first five individuals to receive the licenses were awarded by Minister of Home Affairs Azleen Ahmed. The support received by the public notes the importance of the programme adding government always works to explore ways to ease such services, Home Minister Azleen Ahmed said speaking after awarding the license. He expressed hope the programme will minimise youth violating the traffic regulations.
The programme to issue on the spot vehicle license was jointly held by Economic Ministry and Transport Authority aimed to provide as many individuals as possible with the vehicle license. The programme will go on for another next two nights. The organisers revealed the programme if needed will be extended weighing the response received noting it will be conducted in all parts of Maldives.
Economic Ministry made arrangements to complete the theory and practical from the same area during the programme, with arrangements to fill license form, take pictures needed for the form, stamp and payments are also made on the spot.
