Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Dr. Mohamed Shainee has assured the government is doing everything necessary to make sure no sanction is imposed by the European Union on any Maldivian.
In a tweet, the chair of all-party talks initiated by the government Mohamed Shainee stated some are trying to obtain financial benefits from businessmen by creating fear of including them in the sanction list compiled by the European Union. No such list has been so far compiled or the framework did not call on immediate action on any individual, added Minister Shainee, revealing efforts to obtain financial benefits from businessmen is an action to distort the peace and stability in the country.
All though, the opposition, on several occasions, has expressed the European Union is imposing sanctions against the government of Maldives, so far, there has been no sanctions imposed on the country by any international organisation.
