Elections commission receives over 86,000 re-registration forms

Elections commission of Maldives has revealed over 86,000 forms have been received for re-registration.
The electoral body has received over 86,000 re-registration forms, which is an increase compared to previous years, President of Elections Commission Ahmed Shareef stated speaking at the function held to inaugurate the election training programme. The commission expects to collect about 100 thousand re-registration forms within the deadline, he said.
Moreover, Shareef noted compared to previous years re-registration process has got more support from the public, highlighting about 35% of the voting population will vote in islands they are not registered at.
The elections commission has announced to hold the presidential election on September 23.
