Police requests cooperation from public to hold a credible election

Maldives Police Service has requests cooperation from the public to ensure a free, fair and credible election is held in Maldives.
Speaking at a programme aired on PSM News, Chief Superintendent Ahmed Shifan advised the public to refrain from any action that may disrupt the peace in the country. The police spokesperson noted the efforts of the institution to ensure public safety, highlighting the police force is fully prepared for the presidential election. In this regard, Shifan reiterated the police force is prepared for any situation that may occur on election day.
Moreover, the chief superintendent revealed special training programmes are held in affiliation with the Elections Commission of Maldives to prepare the security forces for the election. Shifan noted police forces will be deployed in all inhabited islands across the country.
The presidential election is scheduled to be held on September 23.
