Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim has hosted a luncheon in honour of the Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency Wang Xiaotao. The luncheon for the representative of the government of China attending the Sina-Male’ Bridge opening ceremony was held at Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort and Spa.
During the luncheon, Minister Asim thanked the government of China for the generous assistance provided for the construction of China Maldives Friendship Bridge. Noting the historical relationship between the Maldives and China, Foreign Minister Asim also said China is one of the most important development partners for the Maldives. Minister Asim also highlighted some of the ongoing projects under the assistance of Chinese Government.
Both the minister and the representative expressed confidence that the Maldives and China will continue working together both bilaterally and internationally on issues of mutual concern, to enhance the existing ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Wang Xiaotao is on an official visit to the Maldives to attend the opening ceremony of Sina-Male' Bridge.
