President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has received a tremendous welcome from Hinnavaru in Lhaviyani Atoll; home of the opposition presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
On arrival at Hinnavaru, President Yameen spent a substantial amount of time greeting the crowd gathered near the harbour. Several development projects would be targeted to the island in his next term in office, President Yameen said addressing a special gathering held to meet the citizens of the island.
The president said a road development project, a harbour expansion project, development of several futsal grounds and the establishment of an outlet of Bank of Maldives (BML) in Hinnavaru are some of the projects that would be carried out during his next term in office.
The citizens of Hinnavaru described President Yameen as a leader who brought numerous development to the island within a short span of time. They expressed confidence that a huge majority of the island would vote for President Yameen in the upcoming presidential election.
