President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has pledged to grant 500 GetSet loans for 1,000 youth if he secures a second term in office.
Speaking at the rally held by Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), President Abdulla Yameen noted that 70 GetSet loans were issued to 140 youth during his first term in office. The president said he wishes to increase the number of youth involved in start-up businesses and pledged to increase the loan scheme for 1,000 youth. Speaking at the ceremony, the ruling party candidate noted the opposition coalition are alarmed at the importance given to the advancement of youth interest by the government. He said development is pursed around the enhancement of facilities and services provided for the youth and pledged to keep on making the youth the key figures in the society.
During the function, former parliamentarian Alhan Fahmy joined PPM, along with 1,000 people from Hulhumale’ and another 250 people from Thinadhoo in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. The rally held in carnival area was attended by over 30,000 supporters.
