Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) has begun to clean the dump site of Kulhudhuffushi in Haa Dhaalu Atoll to address the difficulties faced with the accumulated waste.
To address the waste issue in Kulhudhuffushi, WAMCO has deployed landing crafts to the island and revealed cleaning of the dump site will be concluded within two months. WAMCO also said more landing crafts will be mobilised to speed up the operation. In August, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has announced WAMCO will commence waste management operations in Kulhudhuffushi.
WAMCO envisions to provide environmentally responsible and sustainable waste management services for Maldivian communities.
