Elections Commission urges not to conduct campaign activities after 1800hrs today

Elections Commission of Maldives has urged political parties and public not to conduct any campaign activity from 1800hrs, Sunday to 0600hrs, Monday.

In a press release, citing Elections General Act, the Elections Commission said no campaign or anti-campaign activity should be held within the given time frame on any platform.

The presidential election will be held on September 23, with incumbent President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and opposition coalition candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih contesting.
