MDP continues celebratory activities across the country

Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has announced activities will continue to celebrate the victory for the opposition presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

In a press conference held, MDP urged all supporters to hold activities within the guidelines of law. Celebratory activities will be held in all parts of Maldives and members of the party will participate in the activities, according to MDP.

Moreover, celebratory activities were held in the capital, Male’ City, which was attended by President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and running mate Faisal Naseem. Meanwhile, other activities were also held in atolls to celebrate the victory for the opposition coalition.

Ibrahim Mohamed Solih won an overwhelming majority with 134,616 votes which is a lead of 38,484 votes over the incumbent president and Presidential Candidate of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, who won 96,132 votes, according to interim results published by Elections Commission of Maldives.
