Raajje TV banned from covering judiciary events

Supreme Court of Maldives has banned Raajje TV from covering judicial proceedings or any events related to judiciary.

The Supreme Court stated Raajje TV aired content defaming the courts of law and the judges, especially the Supreme Court on one of its programmes aired on October 31. The notice published by Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) further stated the content contradicts the laws followed regarding the consent of the courts.

For the aforementioned reason, Supreme Court has ruled Raajje TV is banned from covering court hearings, trials and proceedings or any events organised by judiciary of Maldives until the investigation is concluded.
