Social empowerment association inaugurated in Maldives

Maldives has inaugurated Association for Social Benefits and Aid (ASBA) aiming to empower people with special needs and elderly citizens.

The association was inaugurated by wife of former President Mohamed, Nasheed Laila Ali, at a ceremony held at Hotel Jen. The founding members of the association are wife of Parliament Speaker Qasim Ibrahim, Aishath Nahula, and her mother Khadheeja Ibrahim. The association was formed to empower the marginalized population of the country and to support them.

During the ceremony, Friendship Association of India and Maldives (FAIM) signed an agreement of cooperation with ASBA. The ceremony was attended by former President Mohamed Nasheed, Parliament Speaker and Leader of Jumhooree Party Qasim Ibrahim and President of Adaalath Party Imran Abdulla.
