US Ambassador presents her letter of credence to President Solih

The new US Ambassador to Maldives Alaina Teplitz has presented her Letter of Credence to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

At the ceremony held at the President's Office to present the credentials, President Solih congratulated Ambassador Teplitz on the commencement of her term. The president also expressed his appreciation for accepting the invitation and attending the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony.

The president and the ambassador discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between Maldives and the US. They also assured of their continuous support and cooperation to each other in future endeavours.

Alaina Teplitz was nominated by US President Donald Trump to be the US Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives on May 24, 2018 and confirmed by the Senate on September 6, 2018.

Furthermore, former President and Prime Minister Sri Lanka Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga also paid a courtesy call on President Solih.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of SAARC Amjed Hussain B. Sial called on President Solih. Other foreign dignitaries have also called on President Solih.
