Transport Minister departs to Abu Dhabi to hold talks on Maafaru airport

Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula has departed to Abu Dhabi to meet the contractor of Maafaru International Airport.

During the trip, Minister will inquire about the progress made on the airport development project. Moreover, during the meeting with the contractors, Minister Nahula will also discuss efforts to enhance the aviation sector of the country.

A 2.2-kilometre runway has been constructed as part of the airport development project. Test flights landed on the runway in August. The runway developed in Maafaru International Airport can accommodate the largest commercial aircraft in operation in the world.

Maafaru International Airport is developed by a grant aid from Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD).
