MMA changes amount of cash that needs to be declared at customs

Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has changed the amount of cash that needs to be declared at Maldives Customs Service when entering or exiting the country.

Any amount over USD 30,000 should be reported to the customs service upon entering or exiting the country, according to the Anti-money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Act. However, MMA has now decreased the amount to USD 20,000.

Any amount that is equivalent to USD 20,000 or more should be declared, according to MMA.
