MTCC contracted to operate minibuses in Male' City

The government of Maldives has handed over the operation of mini buses in Male’ City to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). The agreement was signed by Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula and CEO of MTCC Hassan Shah.

Speaking at the ceremony held to sign the agreement of venture, Minister Aishath Nahula said the government aims to advance the public transportation of the country, adding efforts are underway to ease the challenges faced in public transportation. She revealed the mini bus services introduced in Male’ will ease the difficulties faced in public transportation.

MTCC must introduce mini bus to Male’ within 120 days, as part of the agreement. Even though a figure was not mentioned in the agreement, transport ministry said MTCC is asked to commence the service with at least 20 mini buses. MTCC is also required to accommodate 24 passengers at once and the buses must be environment friendly.
