Minister of Communication, Science and Technology Mohamed Maleeh Jamal has said information technology is an area that can be developed at the same pace as tourism in Maldives.
Addressing the press at the ceremony held to announce the biggest technology fair to be held in Maldives, the communications minister said such fairs need to be conducted in Maldives. He added Maldives ICT Expo and Consumer Electronics Fair would introduce products and services offered by companies abroad, while products and services developed in Maldives would be introduced to other countries as well.
The development of the ICT sector is a top priority of the administration, with loans to be issued via the SME Bank to the ICT sector. Efforts are also underway to create a platform which would enable individuals and companies active in the sector to network and communicate with each other and the government.
