Parliament endorses nominations for three diplomatic posts

Parliament has endorsed nominations for three diplomatic posts.

At Tuesday's parliament sitting, 36 members unanimously voted to recommend the nomination of Aishath Azeema for the post of the Ambassador of Maldives to China, Mohamed Khaleel for the post of the Ambassador of Maldives to Saudi Arabia and Mohamed Jinah for the post of the Ambassador of Maldives to Thailand.

Of the three appointments, only Aishath Azeema was endorsed by the Committee on National Security. All three appointees have served high level positions in the government.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced diplomatic postings would be made in three new regions. However, no details regarding the pledge has so far been revealed.
