EC receives 1,200 applications for re-registration

Elections Commission (EC) has stated, so far, it has received 1,200 applications to re-register for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Only those who are planning to cast votes at a place other than the station they were registered for the 2018 presidential election are required to re-register, in addition to detainees in the four penitentiaries and people who are registered to vote at the four additional resorts where ballot boxes would be placed.

Speaking on a programme aired by PSM News, spokesperson and member of EC Ahmed Akram said, although relatively less people need to reregister, they should not wait until the last minute.

While the EC has decided to place eight ballot boxes abroad, that would be done, only if over 100 voters register.
