India and Maldives hold followup discussions on President Solih's visit

Maldives and India have held follow up discussions on the progress of the agreements made between both countries during the trip of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to New Delhi.

The Governments of Maldives and India exchanged agreements, as part of President Solih’s State Visit to India made on December 17 last year. The four key documents exchanged were, Agreement on the Facilitation of Visa Arrangements, Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural Cooperation, Memorandum of Understanding for establishing Mutual Cooperation to Improve the Ecosystem for Agribusiness and Joint Declaration of Intent on Cooperation in the field of Information, and Communications Technology and Electronics.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid met Minister of External Affairs of India Sushma Swaraj on the sidelines of the 6th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and discussed the progress made on the agreements.

Moreover, both Ministers exchanged views on the current regional situation and discussed in enhancing regional ties.
