Economic Ministry grants permission for 4 businesses to operate 24 hours

Ministry of Economic Development has granted permission for five business entities to operate 24 hours.

Permissions have been granted for four restaurants and one shop were given permission to run 24 hours, according to economic ministry. In this regard, The Sea House, Saffron Café, Nice and Spice and Weaver Cafe' were given permission to operate for 24 hours. Meanwhile, Express Mart in Villimale' Ferry Terminal was also granted permission.

Economic Ministry said 8 establishments expressed interest to operate for 24 hours. The ministry revealed following inspections 4 establishments were given permission to operate 24 hours.

In January, economic ministry allocated areas from Male' and Villimale' which can operate businesses for 24 hours. The ministry has allocated a total of 13 areas to operate 24 hours businesses. In this regard, in Male', businesses in Boduthakurufaanu Magu, Kan'baa Aisarani Hin'gun, Fareedhee Magu, Sosun Magu, Medhuziyaaraiy Magu, Janavaree Magu, Majeedhee Magu, Buruzu Magu, Orchid Magu, Ameenee Magu and Lonuziyaaraiy Magu can operate for 24 hours, after attaining the neccessary permits.

Further, permit was given only to the Ferry Terminal area in Villimale' to operate businesses for 24 hours. Permits will be granted only for the businesses that apply and only if the businesses meet certain requirements.

Establishments will only be granted permission to operate 24 hours, if the places meet hygienic requirements, have installed cameras and must prohibit smoking.
