Maldives Police Service has summoned Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) Ahmed Naseer for questioning.
According to a Police spokesperson, the central bank Governor was summoned regarding a case currently under investigation. However, no further details were disclosed.
Meanwhile, police recently confirmed that Naseer was being investigated for obstruction of justice. It is believed the case of governor Naseer was filed at Maldives Police Service by former Head of Finance Intelligence Unit at MMA, Ahmed Ashraf.
The Public Finance Committee at parliament summoned Governor Naseer earlier on March for questioning regarding the report publicised by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on the corruption scandal the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).
