MMPRC to promote Maldives with Singapore Airlines

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has signed with Singapore Airlines to promote Maldives.

The agreement of the venture was signed by Managing Director of MMPRC Thayyib Mohamed and Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing of Singapore Airline Campbell Wilson, at Hotel Jen. Under the agreement, Singapore Airlines will assist Maldivian authorities to promote tourism in six countries, which includes, China, USA, Japan, Australia, South Korea and Singapore.

Addressing the ceremony, Managing Director Thayyib Mohamed said the venture will be financially contributed by MMPRC and Singapore Airlines. Thayyib added roadshows, fame trips and media related events will be held jointly in six markets. Meanwhile, Senior Vice President Campbell Wilson stated the countries which are allocated in the venture contributes to 30% of the Maldivian tourism market now as well, adding the joint collaboration will further boost the contribution from the said countries.

Singapore Airlines began its operation in Maldives on March 1984 while a subsidiary of the airline, SilkAir began operation to Maldives on October 2015. Singapore Airlines and SilkAir currently operate a total of 16 weekly flights to Velana International Airport (VIA).
