Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has collected over USD 85 million as revenue in April. The amount is an increase of 12.6% compared to the same period last year and a 6.3% increase compared to the projected amount for April this year, according to statistics of MIRA.
MIRA attributed the increase in revenue collected compared to the same period last year to receipt of dues from previous deadlines and receipt of dues in April this year for Tourism Goods and Services Tax (TGST), Goods and Services Tax (GST), Business Profit Tax (BPT) and Tourism Land Rent, monthly revenue surpassed the forecast revenue for April 2019.
As per the statistics, the greatest share of the revenue collected for April was from GST. In this regard, statistics showed GST contributed to 67.1% of the total revenue with USD 56.87 million and Green Tax contributed to 6.4% of the revenue with USD 5.4 million.
MIRA said other significant contributors include Airport Development Fee with 5.4% of the total revenue, Airport Service Charge with 5.4% of the total revenue, BPT with 5.3% and other taxes and fees contributing to 10.4% of the total revenue.
Out of the revenue collected in April this year, USD 55.9 million constitutes as dollar collection.
