Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has revealed the state received over USD 21 million as Airport Development Fee (ADF) within the first five months of this year.
ADF is levied on passengers departing from Velana International Airport at a rate of USD 25 per foreign passenger and USD 12 per Maldivian passenger from May 2017 onwards. Only passengers with diplomatic immunity are exempt from ADF.
The USD 21.474 million received until the end of May is an increase of 5.4 percent compared to the same period of last year, according to statistics. In May, over USD 4 million was received as ADF which is an increase of 6 percent compared to same month of last year.
