President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has visited the National Emergency Operation Centre set up to take precautions against the global outbreak of COVID-19. During the visit to the centre, the president observed the operations and met with officials working at the centre.
The operation centre was set up on March 3 to strengthen the national efforts to prevent an outbreak of COVID-19. The centre is operated by Health Protection Agency (HPA) and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
The centre was set up to monitor the situation of COVID-19 across the world and to take appropriate measures in preparation of a possible outbreak of the disease in Maldives. Although no positive cases have been found in Maldives so far, the administration has been strengthening preparatory efforts in case the virus reaches Maldives. The administration has also begun efforts to establish a travel clinic in Male' City to screen individuals coming back to the country after travelling abroad.
Authorities have urged the public to take necessary health precautions in accordance to the information disseminated by HPA and NDMA and to cooperate with the administration in the efforts against COVID-19.
