The first Maldivian who tested positive for COVID-19 has made a full recovery.
The Maldivian tested positive for COVID-19 upon returning from the UK. Following the recovery of the first Maldivian, a total of 14 patients have now recovered from COVID-19 in the Maldives.
Speaking at the daily press briefing, Dr. Moosa Murad of Indira Gandhi Hospital (IGMH) said the patient tested double negative for COVID-19. However, he noted the risk of COVID-19 has not diminished and urged all individuals to be cautious and follow the instructions from the authorities. There are four active COVID-19 cases in the Maldives, including 3 Maldivians who had travelled from the UK and 1 Maldivian who had travelled from the Philippines.
Speaking at the press conference, Spokesperson of National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said 2,700 samples have been collected to test for COVID-19. He said 30 test results are pending and all other samples have tested negative for COVID-19.
Furthermore, the spokesperson revealed 85 samples were collected from individuals who had completed the mandatory 14-day quarantine period. He also noted there are 11 individuals in isolation facilities and 970 individuals in quarantine facilities.
