The national flag carrier, Maldivian, has brought in 15 tonnes of cargo from Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The cargo flights operated by Maldivian normally carries food, medicine, and other essential items. Maldivian has scheduled a special cargo flight to Colombo every Sunday.
Maldivian commenced cargo flight operations to different countries on March 29 to assist local businesses to bring in different types of goods to the Maldives. The airline operates cargo flights to Colombo, Sri Lanka every Sunday and to Trivandrum and Chennai in India every Wednesday. In addition, the airline also operates cargo flights to Bangkok, Thailand every Thursday and to Dubai, UAE every Friday.
The national airline stated its cargo flight operations will be increased with additional destinations based on the demand.
