Airlines banned from serving food during one-hour domestic flights

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has stated airlines are banned from serving food and refreshments during domestic flights that are under an hour of travel.

CAA made the decision in accordance with the current COVID-19 situation in the country.
The authority released the new policies for airlines in a circular. As such, passengers are now required to wear masks inside the flight and the terminal. However, children under six years of age and passengers with health problems are exempt from this requirement. The airlines are also banned from serving food and refreshments during domestic flights that are under an hour of travel.

The government has strengthened its COVID-19 restrictions following the emergence of the new Omicron variant. Additionally, Health Protection Agency (HPA) has confirmed the first case of the COVID-19 Omicron variant in the Maldives.
