Individuals positive for COVID-19 to undergo 10-day quarantine

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated individuals found positive for COVID-19 and those who came in contact with them will have to undergo a 10-day quarantine.

Speaking at a press conference, the Medical Officer of HPA Dr. Nazla Rafeeq said the new policy will be implemented upon approval. She said HPA is working on formulating new quarantine guidelines, including requiring individuals found positive for COVID-19 to undergo a 10-day quarantine from the day the samples were taken.

Furthermore, Dr. Nazla said HPA will provide leeway for those who came into contact with positive individuals if they have completed the doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. She also said the contacts will be released from quarantine after 10 days without taking a test if they show no sign of illness, or they will be released after five days if a test shows a negative result. However, she added that any individual with signs of illness will be required to take a test and undergo quarantine until they recover.

Currently, individuals found positive for COVID-19 and those who came into contact with them have to undergo a 14-day quarantine.
