Ministry of Tourism has revealed the number of tourist beds brought into operation from guesthouses has exceeded 11,000.
As per statistics published in the Daily Update Report, the tourism ministry said 11,020 beds have been brought into operation from 631 facilities as of February 19. The statistics show that altogether 15,561 beds from 830 facilities have been registered at the ministry.
Furthermore, the tourism ministry revealed there are 54,178 total tourist beds in operation in the Maldives. The amount includes 38,822 resort beds, 11,020 guesthouse beds, six homestay beds, 2,912 liveaboard beds, and 1,418 hotel beds.
Moreover, a total of 953 tourist facilities, including 162 resorts, 631 guesthouses, one home stay facility, 148 liveaboards, and 11 hotels, have been opened for tourists. The total bed capacity registered to serve tourists in the Maldives is 59,935, according to statistics.
The number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives has also been on the rise following the increase in the number of beds brought into operation. Statistics released by the tourism ministry show that 201,126 tourists arrived in the Maldives so far this year. The amount is an increase of 44.8% compared to the 138,912 tourists who arrived in the Maldives during the same period last year.
