RDC begins asphalt laying in Thimarafushi roads

Road Development Corporation Limited (RDC) has begun laying asphalt on the roads leading to the airport in Thimarafushi, Thaa Atoll.

The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure awarded the project for the development of the main roads in Thimarafushi to RDC on December 21, 2019. Under the project, RDC will pave and redevelop nine main roads including the road leading to the airport. As such, RDC has now begun laying asphalt on the main road leading to the Thimarafushi Airport. RDC said other main works of the remaining roads have been finished and prepared to lay asphalt. RDC revealed a total of 4km will be redeveloped by laying asphalt.

In addition to asphalt laying on the roads, sidewalks and carriageways will be constructed under the project. The project also includes the installation of drainage systems, speed breakers, and road signs as well as the installation of street lights. The entire project is expected to exceed USD4.8 million.
