Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has visited the Qujing Tongquan Wind Farm in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.
The Tongquan Wind Farm Project is one of the 20 wind power projects in Yunnan Province's new energy plan. During the visit, Vice President Latheef toured the wind farm’s control centre and inquired about the facility's operations.
The Maldives recently announced its ambitious plan to develop renewable energy systems capable of providing 33% of the nation's electrical needs within the next five years.
Vice President Latheef is scheduled to address the China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation organised by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA). He is accompanied by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, at the forum scheduled for December 7–8 in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.
