Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is the courageous leader with the strength and capability to ensure that the Maldives is a peaceful, harmonious place for all citizens. The remarks were made by the speaker during a special ceremony in Laamu Atoll commemorating his appointment for Parliament Speaker.
Speaking at the ceremony, Speaker Abdul Raheem recognised the fragile state of the nation when President Dr. Muizzu assumed office. The speaker highlighted the dedication and the commitment of the president to fulfil all the pledges made, aiming for the expeditious economic development. He stated that the unwavering commitment of the president makes him worthy of praise to be elected as the president during the next presidential elections, adding that residents must start the practical works to elect the president for a second term.
During the ceremony, Speaker Abdul Raheem expressed gratitude to all who assisted him in securing the position of being the speaker of the Parliament. The speaker extended his heartfelt appreciation to PNC for nominating him as the speaker and to all those who voted him to secure a seat in the Parliament.
Upon the arrival of Speaker Abdul Raheem to Fonadhoo, Shaviyani Atoll, the residents of the island gave him a warm welcome with several cultural activities. During his visit to Fonadhoo, the speaker was accompanied by some ministers, parliamentarians and senior officials of state-owned enterprises.
