Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu has revealed that efforts are underway to amend the Sports Act, aimed at strengthening the managements of national sports associations.
Speaking at an interview to PSM News, Minister Rafiu underscored the crucial importance of strengthening the managements of the associations. Highlighting the ongoing efforts to amend the law, the minister stated that amendments to the Act will be submitted to the Attorney General's Office (AGO) by July.
Observing that most of the issues of the associations surface during the election periods, Minister Rafiu said that the sole solution to resolve this was to strengthen the managements.
Despite the associations presenting relevant documents, Minister Rafiu emphasised the necessity of establishing a system which maintains the documents and ensures the implementation. The minister also expressed confidence that efforts exerted by the sports associations and administrations in addition to the sports commissioner, will assist to expedite in resolving the challenges.
