Vice President inaugurates IUM Strategic Plan

Vice President Abdulla Jihad on Thursday inaugurated the Strategic Plan of Islamic University of the Maldives.

IUM’s Strategic Plan, consisted of 21 objectives with 3 main targets in 5 categories. At the function held to inaugurate the Strategic Plan an MOU was also signed between IUM and the Islamic Forum of International Humanitarian Law (IFIHL). IUM’s main target is to ensure more than 400 students graduate with first degrees by the year 2020.

Speaking at the function, Vice Chancellor of IUM Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said that the Administration was working on resolving problems faced by IUM due to unavailability of sufficient space. He also added that since an Islamic University has now been established, the Administration’s target now was to make IUM a globally renowned university.

Speaking at the function Vice President Abdulla Jihad noted the importance given by  President  Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom towards  promoting Islamic Education in the country , and thanked the President for his vision in establishing an Islamic University in the country. And he appealed to those directly in charge of implementing the Strategic Plan to work with passion and enthusiasm to accomplish the objectives outlined in the plan and assured full assistance from the Government to achieve the targets set out in the plan.

During the function the MOU between IUM and IFIHL was signed by Vice Chancellor Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed and IFIHL Chairman Dr. Fawzi Oussedik.
