Elections commission decides to exclude photographs on voter’s list

Election Commission of Maldives has decided to exclude photographs on the voter's list used at voting centres in the upcoming presidential election.
The decision was made amid rumours that Ministry of Economic Development has released a voter's list with photographs. The electoral body of Maldives urged the public to refrain from spreading such rumours. A voter's list with photographs was used during the presidential election held in 2013.
Over 263,000 people will have the right to vote in the presidential election, with about 24,000 youths voting for the first time, according to the updated voter's list.
