Opposition coalition celebrates Presidential Election win

Supporters of opposition coalition have celebrated the win over ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) in the presidential election.

The opposition candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih won over the ruling party candidate, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, with a lead of 38,484 votes, according to interim results. To celebrate the landslide victory, hundreds of supporters gathered at the main campaign quarter of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and his Running Mate Faisal Naseem joined the celebrations and met with the supporters.
